Judicial responses to conflict-related sexual violence
Significant progress has been made in the justice system, both at the international and national levels, to recognize and prosecute sexual violence in times of conflict as international crimes.
Over the past thirty years, several international criminal tribunals have been established alongside the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute these crimes. At the same time, many states have adopted specific laws and policies acknowledging them and have prosecuted perpetrators at the national level.
